Medical Robotics, Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technologies

The Medical Robotics, Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technologies track focuses on the development and application of advanced engineering solutions that enhance healthcare delivery, surgical precision, and patient rehabilitation. This session explores key areas such as surgical robotics, rehabilitation robotics, prosthetics, orthotics, exoskeleton systems, assistive mobility devices, and human–machine interfaces. Participants will gain insights into how robotics and engineering innovations are transforming clinical practice by improving accuracy in surgical procedures, supporting physical rehabilitation, and restoring mobility and independence for individuals with disabilities or injuries. The track highlights the integration of robotics with artificial intelligence, sensor technologies, machine learning, and biomechanical systems to create intelligent, adaptive, and patient-specific healthcare solutions. Through research presentations, case studies, and expert discussions, attendees will examine advancements in minimally invasive robotic surgery, neurorehabilitation technologies, brain–computer interfaces, and smart assistive devices. The session also addresses challenges such as cost, accessibility, device customization, safety, regulatory approval, and ethical considerations in the deployment of robotic systems in healthcare. Special emphasis is placed on improving quality of life for patients through personalized rehabilitation programs and technology-assisted recovery processes. Participants will explore innovations in wearable robotics, virtual reality-based rehabilitation, and tele-rehabilitation platforms that enable remote patient monitoring and therapy. The track encourages collaboration among biomedical engineers, clinicians, researchers, and industry professionals to accelerate the development of next-generation assistive and robotic healthcare technologies. By bridging engineering innovation with clinical needs, this session aims to advance rehabilitation science, enhance surgical outcomes, and support the development of intelligent systems that improve patient independence, recovery, and overall well-being.
